The Constitution of India has a definition for gambling which reads like this: \u201cgambling includes any activity or undertaking whose determination is controlled or influenced by chance or accident or any activity or undertaking which is entered into or undertaken with consciousness of the risk of winning or losing (eg, prize competitions, a wagering contract)\u201d<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>The Supreme Court of India has identified rummy as a game of skill and not just chance, hence differentiating it from gambling also Therefore, the activity to play for cash in a game of skill is protected under the Indian Constitution \u2013 Article 19[1](g).<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>However, in Assam, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Nagaland &amp; Odisha players are not allowed to play for cash.
